Unity Sand Ceremonies...what are they and why might I include one in my ceremony...
What on Earth is a Unity Sand Ceremony? Why would I include one in my wedding ceremony?! Aren't these so pretty? Recently, I wrote and led a special, intimate wedding ceremony for a lovely couple who both had children from previous relationships. To represent the blending together of their family and the creation of a lovely new united unit each of the children put a scoop of sand into this lovely vessel during the ceremony. Afterwards, the assembled guests were invited to add their own spoonful of coloured sand into the jug and it very quickly filled up! At the end of the ceremony, the family were able to seal the vessel and take it home as a beautiful memory to represent their perfectly united and blended family. The whole is always much more than the sum of its parts... A really special ritual that was the perfect ad...
